Firdose-VandrevalaMumbai, August 7: Essar steel said Wednesday it has appointed Executive Vice Chairman Firdose Vandrevala, and who was associated with the Tata Group for more than three decades in various positions.

Vandrevala joins Essar steel from HIRCO, construction and real estate major, where he was Chairman and Managing Director. His appointment will be effective from August 12.

"We are delighted to have join us Firdose. Essar steel is committed to being a leader in the economic development of this country. We look forward to contributing to the adoption of Firdose India self-sufficient in the metals sector and contribute to the progress of countries in the "Shashi Ruia said in his statement, the Chairman of Essar group.

Vandrevala of Tata was in the group for three decades, where he held various executive positions, most recently Managing Director of Tata power and Chairman of Tata Teleservices.

He was Deputy Managing Director of Tata Steel prior to relocation in Tata power. From Tata Group he joined Motorola India as President.

About his new position Vandrevala said Essar steel has created some of the finest halls and its scale and size-that any professional would want to link to.

"As increasing the capacity of 10 million tons comes online, I'm looking forward to Essar steel play a leading role in the sector and contribute to economic development and growth, India," he said. (IANS)
