Chicago, August 8: Toyota Motor Corp. is recalling 342000 trucks Toyota Tacoma made during 2005-11 for defective belts, the company said.
Toyota said screws securing belt pre tensioner-retractor in the Assembly can become loose due to repeated and the forced closure of access doors, which can lead to detachment of the pre-tensioner and spring cover of the retractor retractor belt, thus affecting the performance of the seat belt, told Xinhua.
Detroit News Wednesday quoted a report of the Toyota National Highway Traffic Safety Administration as saying that the Japanese automaker had originally received two messages about the problem on the United States market, in November of the year 2011 and February 2012, respectively.
