NTPC-LogoNew Delhi, August 8: NTPC, will probably begin supplying 250 Mw power in Bangladesh next month, giving a boost to India power diplomacy in South Asia.

"NTPC're like Vyapar Nigam (NVVN), a subsidiary of NTPC, is expected to start from September 2013 Bangladesh power", State authorities producer said.

Mohammad Anwar Hossain, Secretary of the joint Ministry of Bangladesh power, transferred the sovereign guarantees NVVN Nand Kishore Sharma Director in Dhaka Wednesday attended by Chairman of the power development of Bangladesh and first Secretary of the Indian High Commission.

Sovereign guarantees security tool is a payment against delivery of 250 MW for 25 years from various power plants under the power purchase agreement NTPC (PPA) signed between NVVN BPDB and in February last year.

India has similar energy ties with other neighbors such as Bhutan, Nepal and Sri Lanka.

Nawaz Sharif government in Pakistan where electricity to 8:0 pm per day is said to be common, has expressed its interest to buy a 500 Mw power from India.

With Bhutan, is planned to enable India to import 5000 MW by the year 2020.

With Nepal proposal for increase of power-sharing through stronger links are being implemented.

With Sri Lanka discussed plans to build undersea power transmission link 450 million United States dollars.

NTPC is likely to export 250 Mw power in Bangladesh from unallocated quota available with the Ministry of supply.

It is expected that the BPDB purchase additional 250 Mw from India. (IANS)
