P-V-SindhuGuangzhou, Aug. 9: p. v. Sindhu assured that India at least a bronze medal at the World Badminton Championships Friday, defeating former World No. 1 Wang Shixian in the women's singles quarterfinals of the event here.


World number 12 beat seventh-seeded Chinese 21-18, 21-17 for 55 minutes on the indoor Tianhe Stadium.


This will be only the third instance that the Indian will bring home medals at the World Championships.


Prakash Padukone bronze men singles in 1983 year Jwala Gutta in Copenhagen and Ashwini Ponnappa won another bronze in the women's races in the last edition in London 2011.
