nuclear-power-plant-chinaBeijing, August 7: China's largest nuclear power company said Wednesday it will hold an open house event August 7 every year in an effort to improve the transparency of their operations.


China nuclear power the General Group (CGN), operator of the Daya Bay nuclear power plant in Shenzhen in Guangdong Province, said that the event will help increase public confidence in the safety of nuclear power, Xinhua reported.


CGN representative Hu GUANGYAO said the company is able to provide timely responses to security issues by improving communication with the public.

Planned CGN nuclear fuel, processing project in Heshan city in Guangdong Province was canceled in July because of opposition from local residents.

CGN 53 per cent of the supplies China in nuclear power and its Daya Bay plant is currently the largest NUCLEAR PLANT in the country.


Hu said that "the CGN realized that security of production depends not only on technology but also a transparent operation and public oversight.


A group of students of Nanjing Institute of technology became the first group of visitors to attend the Open House.


Zhou Liang and Yuan Zhang, both students at the school, surveyed the radiation levels at the plant and the data collected from the surrounding areas and the urban district of Shenzhen.

The State Council of CHINA announced the establishment of the CGN company in 1994, when his first unit of nuclear power on the Daya Bay plant went into production.
